Greers Ferry Lake
Greers Ferry Lake was dedicated by President John F. Kennedy in October of 1963 and is one of the prettiest places in the country. Greers Ferry Lake is 40,000 acres and is surrounded by the Ozark Mountains providing a picturesque setting for lakefront and lake view homes. Greers Ferry Lake spreads out into Van Buren and Cleburne Counties. The communities of Heber Springs, Greers Ferry, Fairfield Bay and Clinton are located around Greers Ferry Lake. It is a popular attraction for vacationers looking to enjoy the boating, swimming, fishing and other activities in the area.
Greers Ferry Lake Fishing
Greers Ferry Lake is an excellent fishing lake and it known for its world record Walleye and Hybrid Stripe Bass. The town of Greers Ferry at the Devils Fork Recreation Area has a Tournament Facility that is used for bass tournaments. The Little Red River below the Greers Ferry Dam in Heber Springs is world renowned Rainbow and Brown Trout fishing. The world record Brown Trout came from these waters. Catfish, Bluegills, Crappie, Black Bass, Spotted Bass, Smallmouth Bass, White Bass and Stripe Bass are plentiful in Greers Ferry Lake. Launch areas can be found around the lake at the recreation area.
Camping at Greers Ferry Lake
There is plenty of camping around the lake located at the recreation areas around Greers Ferry Lake. The town of Greers Ferry has 5 locations located near the community. The camp grounds are managed by the Corps of Engineers.
Greers Ferry, Arkansas
The town of Greers Ferry is located in the “Heart of the Lake” next to the narrows that connects the upper and lower parts of Greers Ferry Lake. Greers Ferry is a quiet little town that is known for its small town environment, friendly people where everyone knows everybody. The Devils Fork Tournament Facility, located in Greers Ferry, entertains bass tournaments and provides a safer process for fish caught in the tournaments.
Heber Springs, Arkansas
Is located on the east end of the lake and is the largest community around the lake and it is the county seat for Cleburne County. Heber Springs has one of two hospital located around Greers Ferry Lake. Heber Springs is also the location to the dam for Greers Ferry Lake and below the dam is outstanding trout fishing. Heber Springs has many activities in the area including swimming, golfing, fishing, boating, theater, nature trails and camping. The down town of Heber Springs offers great shopping in its novelty shops around the court house square. Fine dining can also be found in the Heber Springs area.
Fairfield Bay, Arkansas
Fairfield Bay is a popular resort and retirement community renowned for is scenic golfing, marina, fishing, water sports and other recreation. Fairfield Bay has a lot to offer. There are two outstanding golf courses, country club with fine dining, swimming pools all around the area, tennis courts and much more. Fairfield Bay also has the Heart Center and is complete with fitness center offering state-of-the-art exercise equipment, message and physical therapy, an indoor Olympic pool, indoor track, basketball court, hot tub and sauna. Fairfield Bay has a wide range of homes from lakefront and lake view to affordable homes. Fairfield Bay has a number of different clubs so you can always find something to do.

You can find the property you want around in the Greers Ferry Lake area from the million dollar lakefront homes in Eden Isle to the rural affordable near the lake. Lakefront and lake view properties are the more costly properties. The lakefront property offers the boating or fishing enthusiast access to the lake through the Corp of Engineers property. The lake view property offers some spectacular views of the lake and mountains. If you’re not interested in the lakefront or lake view property there are some great private secluded areas available. There are boat slips and dock available with some lakefront property. However, only about 7% of the lake shoreline is zoned for boat docks so they can be difficult to find.
